$80,000 to match for the Polish Home!

Dear Friends of the Polish Home,

We have great news: the Polish Home received an $80,000 grant from the City. However, it is a matching grant and we need to receive new donations before the grant can match them.

The current construction of the Polish Home extension shell variant is almost done. The shell variant includes: the complete building structure under the roof, fully enclosed exterior including doors, windows and siding and a functioning elevator. We expect to obtain the occupancy permit and to open with the new wing and elevator in September, 2009. However, the Polish Home depleted all the reserves and used up a private line of credit for additional financing to speed up the current construction.

Of course, there is still a lot of work left: interior and exterior finishing at the new wing and also remodeling work at the 1^st & 2^nd floor of the old building. That’s where the grant money will be so helpful to us!

To sign the grant contract with the City, the Polish Home needs to have in cash $40,000 worth of donations and present a list of project tasks funded by the grant. The grant will match only work items from the approved list. The grant is preliminary as it needs to be approved by the Seattle City Council and Mayor Nickels. We expect this by the end of August.

Please donate to the Polish Home expansion project now – if you do, your money will be doubled by the grant matching. Once we collect $40,000 in new donations by Aug 30, 2009 we can sign a grant contract that is very advantageous to us. The grant will bring $80,000 in cash while the balance of the matching can be provided through volunteer time & labor.

We need volunteers! There is a long list of tasks that can be done by volunteers. And, we can use that volunteer time to supply balance of the matching for the grant!

To donate, please write a check to Polish Home Foundation with note: Matching grant and send it to the Polish Home in the attached self-addressed envelope. Donations to PHF are tax deductible. For people who donated in June 2009: your donations will also qualify for matching.

Please help all of us to benefit from the matching grant. This is $80,000 that we can use for the good of our community and to the benefit of all the users of the Polish Home.

 Drodzy Przyjaciele Domu Polskiego,

Mamy wspaniałą wiadomość: Dom Polski dostał grant w wysokości 80 tys. dolarów od miasta Seattle. Jest to jednak tzw. matching grant, to znaczy Dom Polski musi najpierw uzyskać gotówkę z darowizn, do których miasto doda matching.

Obecny etap rozbudowy Domu Polskiego w tzw. wariancie zamkniętym jest bliski zakończenia. Wariant zamknięty obejmuje: przybudówkę pod dachem, zewnętrze z okładziną ścian, drzwiami i oknami, wnętrze z podłogami oraz nową windą, bez wykończonego ostatniego piętra. Spodziewamy się, że nowa cześć zostanie otwarta do użytku we wrześniu 2009. Problem w tym, ze wydaliśmy całą gotówkę i wykorzystaliśmy linię kredytową, aby przyspieszyć budowę.

Do zakończenia rozbudowy sporo jeszcze brakuje: wykończenie wnętrza i zewnętrza nowej części, a także zmiany na parterze i na piętrze starego budynku. Tutaj właśnie ten grant bardzo nam się przyda!

Do podpisania umowy o grant, Dom Polski potrzebuje zebrać 40 000 dol. oraz przedstawić listę zadań objętych grantem. Grant musi być jeszcze zatwierdzony przez Radę Miejską m. Seattle oraz burmistrza Nickelsa. Spodziewamy się tego pod koniec sierpnia br.

Bardzo prosimy o darowizny - Państwa pieniądze będą podwojone dzięki temu grantowi! Gdy zbierzemy 40 tys. dol. do końca sierpnia br., podpiszemy bardzo korzystną dla nas umowę grantu, która przyniesie nam 80 tys. gotówką od miasta; resztę brakująca nam do matching wniesiemy w postaci pracy ochotników.

Potrzebujemy wolontariuszy! Mamy długą listę prac do wykonania w ramach grantu a przepracowany przez ochotników czas możemy użyć do rozliczenia grantu.

Aby złożyć darowiznę prosimy wypisać czek na Polish Home Foundation z dopiskiem Matching grant i wysłać go do nas w załączonej kopercie do 20 sierpnia 2009.

Do osób, które wysłały nam darowiznę w czerwcu br.: te darowizny też będą podwojone.
